BVI Business Companies Receive Extension to File Registers on VIRRGIN
The British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (BVI FSC) has announced a six-month extension for the filing of Registers of Members and Registers of Beneficial Owners for BVI Business Companies incorporated before 1 January 2025. The new filing deadline is now 1 January 2026, offering companies additional time to comply with this regulatory requirement through the BVI’s online portal, VIRRGIN.
This update is particularly relevant for businesses managing their compliance timelines and reinforces the need for a trusted partner when navigating offshore regulations.
What Does This Mean for BVI Companies?
The requirement to file these registers was introduced under amendments to the BVI Business Companies Act. It aims to improve transparency while maintaining the BVI’s reputation as a leading international financial centre. Companies incorporated before 2025 now benefit from an extended timeframe, allowing more flexibility in ensuring their documents are correctly submitted to the registry.
However, it’s important to note that this extension does not apply to Limited Partnerships. These entities must continue to meet existing deadlines unless otherwise updated by the FSC.
